Follow the fjord at a slower pace

Skjomen lies south of Narvik. The drive approaches via the E6 and the turn towards the fjord near Skjomen bridge. Use the map to understand the area, then plan the current road route with a navigation service. The markers identify places; they are not a list of verified parking spaces.

Build the day around a few stops

Choose a small number of accessible stopping places once you have checked signs and local access. Allow time to enjoy the view, eat and return along the route. Do not stop on a bridge, in a traffic lane or on a private access road for a photograph. A scenic drive should stay flexible.

Walking is an optional separate activity

If you want to add a hike, choose a named trail from the local tourism information and check its difficulty, seasonal access and parking. Wet rock can be slippery. A view from the road and a mountain walk are different plans; include walking time and daylight in the day’s schedule.

Summer offers long daylight, while winter calls for a shorter and more cautious plan. Snow clearing, ice and visibility can change which stops are practical. Check weather and road reports before departure, and be ready to stay closer to Narvik.
