Three days in Narvik
Town stories, one fjord outing and a third day shaped by the season.
- Three nights or carefully timed arrivals
- One main outing per day
- Keep the clearest day flexible

Use Narvik as one base and give each day a single main purpose. This leaves room for the changing light, a long lunch or a weather change without turning a short stay into a driving challenge.
A plan with room to breathe
Three distinct days from one base
Day one · understand Narvik
Visit one museum, eat in town and settle into your accommodation.
Day two · take the Skjomen road
Use the best weather window for a measured fjord outing with one or two lawful stops.
Day three · visit Polar Park
Allow the wildlife park and return journey to fill the day. Keep the evening free.
Swap days two and three after checking weather and opening times. Leave a separate departure buffer.
Town history with a railway day
Day one · railway and harbour stories
Start at Narvik Museum and take a short town walk.
Day two · travel by rail
Choose an operating Arctic Train experience and allow time around its actual departure.
Day three · follow your interests
Visit Narvik War Museum or choose a seasonal local activity from Visit Narvik.
Check train departures directly. A car can serve arrival and one local outing without filling every day.
Give arrival and departure their own space
Three sightseeing days are different from a stay that includes a late arrival and an early flight. Put collection, groceries and check in on your arrival day. On departure, reserve time for the drive, fuel, rental return and onward transport. Shorten an itinerary before squeezing those tasks between attractions.
Day one belongs to the town
Choose Narvik War Museum for the wartime story or Narvik Museum for railways, shipping and the town's growth. Spend time with one collection rather than racing through both. Follow with lunch and a short town or seafront walk when conditions suit. Keep the evening relaxed after travelling.

Day two follows the fjord
Make Skjomen the main outing, following current navigation and road information south from Narvik. Choose a modest destination with room for a proper pause and return along the same route. Treat the outward drive as half the day, not a reason to keep extending it. Bad visibility is a good reason to shorten the trip.
Choose one third day
For a wildlife day, check Polar Park's opening and guiding programme before driving north. For a railway day, look up an actual Arctic Train departure and make that your main reservation. These alternatives offer different experiences; doing both would remove the breathing room that makes a short stay enjoyable.

Move the days to match the forecast
Keep the fjord drive for the best combination of road conditions and visibility, then fit indoor history around it. Narvikfjellet's gondola and Mountain Restaurant are closed until a planned January 2027 reopening. For later dates, use the operator's current information before replacing an outing with the gondola. Add aurora viewing only when darkness, weather and energy allow.

Check available cars
Match the rental period to your arrival, chosen day trips and departure. Compare space for your group and luggage, then confirm collection and return arrangements.
